PUBLIC ART STROLL

Salmon Arm is home to plenty of bright, beautiful, and vibrant public art. Amble the streets and squares of our city, while you enjoy a steaming cup of cocoa, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and experience some of Salmon Arm’s amazing art.

On Lakeshore Drive, the world’s largest treble clef majestically rises above you. On Hudson Street, the impressive osprey mural will have you in awe, and off Shuswap Street, a kaleidoscope of monarchs rests atop the multi-coloured Innovation Centre! While you’re there, capture the moment with a photo or two. The butterfly wings painted on the side of the building are a favourite selfie stop! If time allows, consider taking a detour past SASCU’s orchard of apples, a unique and playful sculpture complete with seating made out of old tractor seats.

WHARF WANDER & BEYOND

Salmon Arm features the largest curved, wooden wharf in North America. Visitors and residents alike love to wander the iconic waterfront structure! Sunsets are spectacular here, and at night the twinkling city lights glisten on the water, making a perfect backdrop for a hot chocolate and friend date!

Take the family exploring beyond the wharf and walk along the waterfront sanctuary and the Raven Foreshore Nature Trail beside the protected shores of Shuswap Lake. This is an easy, multi-use, all-season wildlife viewing trail through an incredible wetland sanctuary. It has beautiful wooden boardwalks and viewing platforms, with a variety of bird species to admire! Explore more in the Salmon Arm wetlands!


Salmon Arm features the largest curved, wooden wharf in North America! At about 440 feet long (134 meters) it is one of our iconic lake structures.

Walk beside the waterfront sanctuary and the Raven Foreshore Nature Trail. A Salmon Arm favorite walking destination and perfect for even the littlest of hikers!

WALKABOUT THE PAST

Who doesn’t love a good story? The architecture and history of Salmon Arm tell a story of the region’s fascinating past. The R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum released a walking tour map illustrating life in Salmon Arm nearly a century ago.

There are 38 landmarks on the map with historical information on each of the buildings in relation to the map. Notable buildings such as the old courthouse, the original library, and the first hospital are celebrated here.

Constructed in 1930, the Salmon Arm Court House (also known as the Provincial Building) is part of the historical walking tour.


Explore the architecture of Salmon Arm! Built in 1937 as Salmon Arm’s first post office, The Salmon Arm Arts Centre is a historical gem!

TAKE A HIKE

Salmon Arm boasts many recreational opportunities. Its intercity trails and parks are fantastic,providing both visitors and residents with so many options to choose from. It’s not surprising locals love the McGuire Lake and Turner Creek Trails. Start your journey in the heart of Salmon Arm at McGuire Lake. It is a stroller and wheelchair accessible paved path, looping the pretty, natural lake, and is delightful for families and children to explore. Picnic tables and a shaded wooden pavilion offer a welcoming place to sit and enjoy a family picnic. The Turner Creek Trail is a signature, multi-use, urban connecter trail joining McGuire Lake with Little Mountain Park in Salmon Arm. If you are looking for more of a hike, add the summit trail at Little Mountain Park to catch a glorious view over Salmon Arm!
