SAEDS is thrilled to welcome Caitlin Thompson to our team! Caitlin grew up in the Interior and has spent many years travelling all over BC, AB and into the US in various tourism, events, hospitality and transportation roles throughout her career. She brings a contagious passion and enthusiasm for the travel and tourism sector and many years of experience to her new role as Project Coordinator.
Caitlin will primarily focus her attention on the Municipal Regional District Tax (MRDT) program and all projects related to expanding visitation, supporting events in the community and building out economic opportunities in the shoulder seasons.
Caitlin brings a wide variety of experience and interests to the team, including over 10 years working for Rocky Mountaineer, at Heli-Skiing lodges, hotels and resorts as well as leading large-scale event planning and coordination such as the 2010 Winter Olympics Torch Ceremonies. Her educational background started at Thompson Rivers University in Performing Arts, English and History and continued into her health and wellness journey as a yoga teacher for the past 10 years!
Caitlin is totally jazzed about the events and opportunities this year and the improvement plans for the future. She is looking forward to working with community stakeholders and engaging with businesses who make our community such a wonderful place to work, live and play!
When asked about the year ahead, Caitlin said with a big smile, “We are open for business! We are a small city, with big ideas and now – BIG EVENTS!”
Welcome to the team, Caitlin!
