Salmon Arm Economic Development Society Mandate
The Salmon Arm Economic Development Society provides Community Economic Development services to the City of Salmon Arm. These services include but are not limited to the following:
- Supporting and providing services to existing businesses
- Attracting new business and industry to the community
- Assist in developing strategies and programs to foster economic development and prosperity in the community
Community Economic Development is a process by which communities can initiate and generate their own solutions to their common economic problems to build long-term capacity. The process to build long-term capacity will include the integration of economic development in consultation with the community’s social and environment(al) objectives.
What We Do:
- Promote Salmon Arm as a desirable location in which to live and do business
- Support and provide services to existing/expanding businesses
- Provide information and assistance to individuals and businesses wishing to relocate to or invest in Salmon Arm, as well as new Business Development (attracting new business and industry to our community)
- Sponsor local employment initiatives
- Provide assistance to projects and activities initiated by volunteer and not-for-profit community organizations
- Sponsor meetings and events to encourage public discussion of community economic development issues
- Advocacy (speaking and writing in support of Salmon Arm’s Economic Development desires and plans)
- Strategic planning (developing strategies and programs to foster economic development and prosperity in our community)
Funding
The Society is funded by the City of Salmon Arm. Additional funds are accessed through Federal and Provincial sources for specific projects. The SAEDS was formed in 1998 with funding assistance from HRDC.
