About Us

Salmon Arm Economic Development Society Mandate

The Salmon Arm Economic Development Society is providing Community Economic Development, as defined within the working definition, by undertaking the following:

  1. Supporting and providing services to existing businesses – taking care of business we have; and
  2. Attracting new business and industry to the community – New Business Development; and
  3. Assist in developing strategies and programs to foster economic development and prosperity in the community

The working definition of Community Economic Development for the society as it relates to the mandate is:

Community Economic Development is a process by which communities can initiate and generate their own solutions to their common economic problems to build long-term capacity.  The process to build long-term capacity will include the integration of economic development in consultation with the community’s social and environment(al) objectives.  

What We Do:

Funding

The Society is funded by the City of Salmon Arm through business license revenues. Additional funds are accessed through Federal and Provincial sources for specific projects. The SAEDS was formed in 1998 with funding assistance from HRDC.
